Earthquakes and Orcas and Wave Pools, oh my! Shake Things Up & Dive Into Education On A Submarine

Have you ever wanted to step onto an earthquake simulator? Have you ever wanted to swim in the sea with the Orcas? Or, maybe you’d like to test your boat making skills in the wave pool after touring a real submarine loaded with torpedoes. If you said yes to any of these questions, then you should check out OMSI.

Immersive Experience

Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is loaded with awesome exhibits to see and fun things to do. At OMSI, science is all around you and the immersive education style used in creating each station is second to none. If you’ve never been to OMSI, you are truly missing out.

Real Submarine

That’s right folks, OMSI has a real submarine right outside their back door. That is not a joke either, it’s literally right outside their back door and they offer tours! It’s AWESOME!

The USS Blueback (SS-581) is a Barbel-class submarine that served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1990.

Veteran Guided Sub Tours

Not only do you get to see a real submarine, but you can actually go on board! Yep, and it gets better! Not only do you get to go on board, but the tour is guided by Veterans who have the expertise and experience to make your educational tour unforgettable.

10/10 would recommend the sub tour. Just please be careful around the water, the current is very strong here and my son wanted to dive in the water to see the dive planes and torpedoes. It’s funny cause you can see him thinking about it in the 1st pic here…lol

Earthquakes, Wave Pool, Water Rockets & More

The earthquake simulator was one of my son’s favorite exhibits, and we shook the proverbial house down several times before diving into the Wave & Wind Pools.

I apologize about the blurry pics. This little guy was not holding still for longer than a second because he was having too much fun figuring out how to build the perfect sailboat.

Orcas

Oh yeah, we almost forgot, they are having an Orca exhibit until January 28th 2024 that is a must see. As in, we must see it. Honestly, we need to go back to see the Orca exhibit because we ran out of time having fun in the submarine and wave pool.
