Have you ever wondered where your other sock is? Was it the monsters under the bed who took it? Did the dryer eat it? Did it mysteriously vanish into thin air? Well, the real truth behind the answer may surprise you.
Mom, The Wall Ate My Sock
Just outside of Portland, Oregon, at James John Elementary School, located in St. Johns, there’s a mysterious sock wall that has appeared out of nowhere, so if you’re wondering what happened to your other sock, I think we may have found it.
Levitating Socks
No, the school is not haunted and the socks are not levitating. It’s not that hard to get the right sock to stick on brick walls. Especially with that style of brick because it has very coarse surfaces so the socks stick easily if you get a get throw. That being said, the height of these throws for elementary school aged kids is still pretty impressive if you ask me. In fact, if you don’t believe it, then maybe you should go try it for yourself at your local school to see how high you can get one to stick (for science;).

Who Invented Socks?
The first known type of sock was called “piloi” and it was first recorded in Ancient Greece (source link). Today, the kids at James John Elementary School have elevated the use of socks to a whole new level, laterally.
Conclusion
Next time you’re missing a sock, check the wall of socks in St. Johns first before you go blaming your dryer for eating them, again, or it might get heated and stop working.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed this short light-hearted story. Growing up we did so crazy pranks, and sometimes it seems like they are getting out of hand these days, so it’s nice to see some good ole wholesome fun. On the other hand though (or foot I should say), where is my other sock! 😉
